Each pained question goes right to his heart. The hurt and betrayal that all Jim's efforts aren't enough to earn his trust. Felix shakes his head, tries to say something but Jim isn't done. All his justifiable anger and fear tumbling out steadily, building until he's on the verge of losing control altogether. Felix can feel him hit that point- and clamp his mouth shut.
He wants to wrap his arms around Jim and pull him close. Assure his love that he knows, he's sorry he should never have done this- but tension radiates from Jim's posture and he knows- not now. It would be an empty gesture yet.
"It's not about your trust," he blurts out instead. Corrects himself: "I mean- I know you have faith in me. More than anyone else I've ever known. I'm afraid of you putting yourself in danger to help me- to fix my mistakes. It's not fair that you should always be sacrificed either!"
